Tucker hearing put back until after tour

A disciplinary hearing for Southampton Rangers all-rounder Janeiro Tucker has now been pushed back to early November, Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) have confirmed.

Tucker had been summoned to appear before the Board's disciplinary committee next Tuesday to face charges of bringing the game into disrepute during his team's September 9 Premier Division clash with Cleveland County at Southampton Oval.

However, it was learned yesterday that members of the Board's disciplinary committee will be off the Island next week.

The Rangers player/coach is alleged to have shouted obscenties at umpire Hector Watson from the clubhouse after being dismissed during the September 9 clash with Cleveland.

Rangers officials have denied the claims against their player/coach.

Earlier this week Tucker was named in Bermuda's Intercontinental Cup squad that departs for Kenya October 15.

The top all-rounder will now answer to charges brought against him when the national squad return from overseas commitments next month.

It is the second time this year that Tucker has landed himself in hot water with local cricket's governing body.

"Obviously we don't condone any unsportsmanlike behavior — but you are innocent until proven guilty," chairman of national team selectors Arnold Manders said.

"Some people say he is innocent while others say he is guilty. But it's now a matter for the disciplinary committee to handle."
