A Ralph Bean-inspired North Village smacked six goals past hapless Somerset Trojans at Bernard Park to keep their unlikely title aspirations alive.

The Rams skipper helped himself to four goals as Village annihilated relegation threatened Trojans who were painfully outclassed by Elliott Jennings' stylish side.

Village trail tabletoppers PHC by six points with the two teams scheduled to meet in the penultimate game of the season in a fortnight's time.

The floodgates opened early on when midfield schemer Sammy DeGraff played a neat one-two with Bean before finishing past Trojans keeper Timmy Figureido.

Trojans were then awarded a penalty when Jelani Scott was needlessly hauled down inside the area, but the Trojans skipper saw his spot kick foiled by Zane Hendrickson to set the trend for visitors.

Rams doubled their advantage when a back pass to Figuerido was intercepted by Bean who rounded his Bermuda Hogges team-mate, before tapping the ball into the empty net.

The hosts then increased their lead when a mesmerising run by Shayne Hollis saw the impish winger waltz his way around three Trojans defenders before being illegally stopped, with referee George O'Brien pointing for a penalty again.

Sammy DeGraff, usually so dependable from the spot, struck a tame effort allowing Figuerido to palm the ball from danger with a full length dive low to his right.

Yet it was not long before the dominant Rams increased their lead with full back Robert Wilson powering home DeGraff's flag-kick to leave Trojans deflated at half-time.

The second-period continued in the same vein with Rams in the ascendancy with O'Brien awarding a third penalty when Stephen Mendez tripped the impressive Jemeiko Jennings.

Bean took on the responsibility and made no mistake dispatching his powerful penalty past Figuerido to make it 4-0 with Trojans by now bereft of belief and appetite for the battle.

The glut of goals continued when Bean completed his hat-trick by hammering a close range effort past Figuerido, following a jinky run by Hollis down the right-flank.

A motionless Trojans coach Dennis Brown to could only watch as the horror show unfolded before his eyes and DeGraff should after inflicted more pain when he found himself clean through, but Figuerido easily denied his lethargic chip.

Bean made sure the goals continued to flow though when he out-muscled his marker on the by-line, cut past another defender, and casually slid the ball past Figuerido who was offered little or no protection by his beleaguered back-line.

Stephen Mendes pulled one back, but Somerset's woes were compounded when Adolphus Lambert was dismissed in the dying seconds for foul and abusive language.

No doubt Lambert and team-mates were on the receiving end of some justified foul and abusive and language themselves from coach Brown following this shambolic showing.
