months after this year's match was hit by bad weather.

The event in January of this year would have been for the 1998-99 season, but after it had to be called off and no new date could be found to reschedule the games, the event was scrapped.

However, as the players had already been nominated, a decision has been made to honour those selections in this season's match which has been brought forward from the usual month of January to December 19.

"We're definitely hoping for much better weather and for a better turnout,'' said BFA league and competitions committee chairman Craig Tyrrell.

"It's the week after the mid-season break, school players will be back and we're planning on laying out a nice day so that people can bring their families out and have a good time.'' Again the matches will be held at Somerset Cricket Club with action starting at noon with the BTC women's All-Star match. The Shell Under-21 match will begin at 1.45 and the Coca-Cola Men's match at 4.00.

Because of the Bermuda under-23 tour of Orlando, some players will be unavailable, including Tokia Russell, Jemeiko Jennings, Jamaul Boyles, Kofi Dill and Rohan Simons. Their places will be taken by North Village pair Kevin Jennings and Kimande Binns and Craig Darrell of Southampton Rangers while Heys Wolffe of Dandy Town comes in for his clubmate Darron (Duke) Simons who will be off the Island.

Kentoine Jennings, who received the most votes last season (233) will remain in the West team as captain even though he has now returned to North Village from Vasco. Nakia Smith of Wolves, who led the East voting with 210, will be their captain.

While the under-23 tour will clash with this year's match, Tyrrell feels that a date in mid-December could be more suitable as it enables college students to play on their break. Because they were away in school a number of students did not have their names put forward last year.

"These are the calibre of players that people will come out to see, especially over the Christmas break,'' added Tyrrell.

"We're hoping this could turn into something real special.'' The fastest man competition, which was scheduled for last season, is again planned as an added attraction, with heats taking place at half-time of the Shell match and the final taking place during half-time of the main match.

The competition is open to senior footballers and the distance will cover the edge of the 18-yard box at one end to the 18-yard box at the other.

"We have a list of guys who have agreed to do it,'' said Tyrrell, who added that there would be a $500 travel voucher for the winner, courtesy of the two sponsors, Lambert and Lambert Canopy Rentals and Knights Lights Electrical.

The entry list includes Daniel Reece of Prospect, Dion Woolridge of Somerset, Southampton's Oscar Riley, Kevin Jennings of North Village, Shannon Bell of Hamilton Parish, Vernon Phillips of Boulevard, Taurianno Trott of Wolves, Donovan Thompson of St. George's and Eddie Dowling of PHC. Anyone else rating their chances can register by contacting the BFA by next Friday.
