day of the Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships in Trinidad.

Gosling, who finished third in the girls 15-17 100 metres backstroke, was one of eight Bermudian swimmers to reach the finals on Saturday.

Three of the remaining seven swimmers finished fifth, two were sixth, while the others came in seventh and eighth.

Competition was tough, particularly in the boys 13-14 age group, where Stephen Fahy came within fractions of a triple-A time in the 400 freestyle but could only finish seventh.

Yesterday, on day two of the competition, Fahy achieved a triple-A time in the 200 free, but still could only manage ninth place overall.

In the same hotly-contested age group, Jeremy Hammond also achieved a triple-A time in finishing ninth in the 100 metres breaststroke.

Craig Roberts was due to take to the pool last night in the final of the boys 15-17 100 metres breaststroke, having qualified with another triple-A time.

Alicia Mullan, Jean Richardson and Jenny Gosling were to be joined by medallist Tiffany Gosling in the final of the 4x100 freestyle relay, while the 11-12 boys were also looking forward to their relay final.

The four-day competition is due to finish tomorrow.
