Castle Harbour make their move
the Bermuda Goodwill Tournament, professional Kevin Benevides must realise that the chances of two foreign teams winning the title today remain as sound as ever.
Benevides and his team of John Willson, Danny Fagundo and Fritz Reiter face a tough outing on the par 71 course at Mid Ocean today while their closest challengers, Shaker Farms and Willowbend, are expected to have far less trouble on the par 70 at Belmont.
Shaker Farms, leaders at the half-way stage, now trail Castle Harbour by one stroke while third place Willowbend are two strokes behind the leaders and tied with Agawam Hunt. Castle Harbour have a three-round score of 180, Shaker Farms 181 and Willowbend, Agawam and Overbrook on 183 each.
Castle Harbour gained significant ground yesterday when they moved from five strokes behind leaders Shaker Farms, thanks to a superb 58 at the more manageable Belmont course while Shaker Farms could only record a modest 64 at Port Royal.
Willowbend, who were tied with Castle Harbour going into the day's play, made good gain as well as a result of their impressive round of 60 at Port Royal while Waccabuc, second at the half-way stage, lost ground with a 64 at Castle.
Overbrook had a fine day with a 61 at Mid Ocean.
CC of New Seabury had the low net score yesterday with a 58 at Belmont while the low gross team was Mid Ocean by retrogression over Kanawaki with a 64 at Belmont.
