Champ Keeble on course
control during her 3-0 victory over number three seed Lynne Furtado in the Fast Forward Freight National Squash Championships last night.
Playing at the Devonshire venue Keeble outwitted her opponent with tight, deep returns, great crosscourt drops and rapid changes of direction.
Furtado retrieved tirelessly and was a worthy opponent, extending the rallies and gaining service numerous times, but unfortunately she was unable to capitalise on the few errors Keeble made.
In the Mens Division One Consolation event Harry McKenzie dominated Richard Brewer in all aspects of play.
McKenzie was one step ahead at all times, with Brewer having to adopt the role of retriever. McKenzie took the match 3-0.
In Ladies Division Three action two juniors showed off their future potential.
Caty Luckhurst took control against Alex Furtado, who despite a valiant effort was defeated quite quickly 3-0.
The quarter final of the Mens Division Two tournament between Chris Silvester and Jamie Sapsford saw some very lopsided game scores but did not reflect the entertaining show the pair put on. Silvester won 3-1.
The Mens Division Three match between Matt Lawson and Dave Andrews saw the latter rush into an early lead.
Lawson regrouped, however, and after a very long, tightly contested second game, which he won 10-8, Andrews ran out of steam and lost the next two games 9-0 and 9-3.
