Devonshire Colts Orange set up a do-or-die battle with North Village Reds in the Shell Youth League's Mini-Minor KO Cup after both recorded victories
Colts had an easy time reaching the final, pummelling Wolves Black 5-0 with two goals each from Jason Dill and Dion Stovell, while Jacoby Darrell added one.
The big surprise came from Village against 1996 champions PHC, totally disregarding their underdog status to emerge 2-1 winners. Shaki Simmons and Tyrone Quinn scored for the young Red Devils, offsetting a goal from PHC striker Aaron Eversley.
The two teams will meet in tomorrow's final at Devonshire Rec. (1.00 p.m.).
In the Minor Division, Village wrapped up the league championship in the simplest of fashions, not needing to kick a ball as opponents Southampton Rangers showed up with only eight players -- enough to play -- but with neither a coach nor jerseys. And St. George's now wait to see if a similar scenario unfurls this weekend, with Southampton slated to tackle the east enders in the Minor KO Cup Lower Division semis. Dandy Town and BAA clash in the other semi-final.
The Minor KO Cup Upper Division sees league champs Village taking on Devonshire Colts in what promises to be an intriguing affair. Colts are the only outfit to have beaten Village this season and the latter now know not to take them for granted.
Somerset will have their hands full against PHC in the other match, yet possess a valuable trump card in league leading scorer, Nadir Wade, who boosted his season tally to 20 five goals during the west enders' 11-0 mauling of BAA.
Village can take a step towards claiming the Premier Division championship this weekend if they can get past Dandy Town. The Red Devils need two victories in their last two games while enhancing their goal difference by at least five goals in order to overtake current leaders Boulevard, who have already finished their campaign.
Action tonight sees PHC and Village in the Premier KO Cup tournament, while Boulevard take on Southampton on Saturday at Devonshire Rec.

VOLLEYBALL VOL Five points were all Blockbusters needed to wrap up the March Madness Volleyball tournament against Red Hots.
It didn't happen.
Instead Red Hots held strong, coming back from 10-3 down to win 15-10, seizing the Women's A title with captain Juanita Blee leading the way, her team-mates Wendy Cummings, Tara DeValming and Beverley Kaplan garnering eight points off her serve.
Blockbusters' team included Lisa Dragon, Denise Sommerville, Cindy Hamilton and Carol Mitchell.
An intense, hour long Men's A final evolved with Inches to Spare, comprising Andrew Soares, Mark Hamilton, J.P. Harrop and Bruno Richards, emerging 15-11 victors over Block Party.
Inches to Spare earlier earned their way to the final by downing Feel Mid 30's, while Block Party, with Cameron McInnis, David Gazzard, Adam Wong and Mark Monaghan, got past Olympic Club.
