POOL POO Brian Walker landed two titles in the first tournament on the schedule on Saturday at Hamilton Parish, winning the singles and then teaming up with Mike Zimmerman to take the doubles title in the Heineken Cup.
The top players in the league battled for both doubles and singles titles, with Walker and Zimmerman beating Andre Burgess and Disney Wade 4-1 in the doubles final.
They reached the final by defeating the pre-tournament favourites of Gary Bascome and Greg Falzone in a tight semi-final encounter.
The final was not as close as Walker and Zimmerman won comfortably over Burgess and Wade, who defeated the remaining home team of Richard Foggo and Michael Burgess to reach the final.
The singles tournament also featured Walker and Zimmerman in the final, which Walker came from behind to win 4-3.
The singles nearly began with an upset as Paul Mathias of Robin Hood found himself with a straight shot on the eight-ball to knock out Walker in the second round. Mathias potted the eight-ball but then scratched the cue-ball to give a relieved Walker a spot in the next round. In the best of seven final, Zimmerman dominated early to take a commanding 3-1 lead, before Walker replied with two eight-ball run outs to take the title 4-3.
