SQUASH SQU The Bermuda Squash Club and a leading architectural firm have teamed up for a "graded category'' tournament which promises to draw leading international amateurs and locals of all calibre.
Onions Bouchard & McCulloch is hosting the International Graded Squash Event, September 25 to September 29 at the club on Middle Road, Devonshire. "There are ten different grades,'' said club director Jane Parker. "So whatever standard you are, you'll be playing people at a level similar to yourself ... we might even get women to play in some of the men's grades.'' The grading system, developed in England, ranks players according to ability and divides them into categories of similar standards, Parker explained.
The closing date for entries is Monday. Call 292-6881 for information. Entry fee is $15 for residents and $25 for non-residents.
TRIATHLON TRI The Bermuda Triathlon Association will host two events at Clearwater Beach, St. David's, on Sunday.
The main event is the National Sprint Championships, designed to attract the seasoned triathletes such as Neil De Ste. Croix, Kevin Tucker, Kris Hedges and, possibly, Adam Smith. On the female side Shona Palmer, Julia Hawley and Melanie Claude are expected to fill the front rankings.
Set to precede the sprint event at 8 a.m. is the Just For Fun Triathlon for those seeking initial introduction to the sport, as well as for younger participants (who must be over eight years).
Entry forms are available from major sports shops in Hamilton.
