Invitational Slow Pitch tournament begins tonight.

The tournament -- sponsored by Travel Connection Group -- takes place at Bernard Park with three matches on offer today and tomorrow followed by the consolation and championship games on Sunday.

Four teams representing three countries -- Bermuda, Canada and United States -- will compete in the three-day event.

Bermuda will be featured in two of the first three games tonight, with local players locking horns with US Rubbernecks (6.00) and Canada (9.00). The other game features Canada against the Bombers from the US Naval Air Station (7.30).

Tomorrow's first game will be Rubbernecks against Bombers (12.00 noon) with Bombers playing Bermuda at 1.30. Rubbernecks and Canada square off at 3.00.

The local squad is led by Dean Williams, with batting behemoths Braxton Stowe, Anthony Mouchette, James Pace and Austin John included in the squad.

Representing Canada will be Al MacKinnon and Mario Valcourt, who will share the coaching duties but will also play. Valcourt, one of the best pitchers in the Commercial League, will bolster Canada's mound staff.

USNAS Bombers will be guided by Darryl Watson while USA Rubbernecks are coached by Steve Brechtel.

Umpires are Pat Pamplin and Frank Morgan, with Commercial League rules governing the competition.
