Jay Donawa romped to an easy win in the Athletic Club 5K yesterday.

his nearest challenger, masters competitors Sylvester Jean-Pierre. Mark Stileman was third in the field of 155 runners.

Anna Eatherley continued her return to form to win the female division with a time of 19:30, 40 seconds faster than Jane Christie. Glennis Benjamin was the third female overall.

In the junior division, 11-year-olds Nicky Boorman and Shar-Dae Whitter came out on top. Boorman led in the boys' category in 21:04, while Whitter finished in 23:09.

MARTIAL ARTS MAT Local martial artist Eugene Ford was a convincing winner in his kumite (40-50) division at the 1998 Golden Gate Traditional Okinawan Styles International Tournament in Antioch, California recently.

Ford, who travelled with Al Wharton, proved unbeatable in his division as he used well-timed and powerful reverse punches against his opponents. Wharton pulled a hamstring in kata and had to withdraw but participated in a referees' seminar and acted as an official.

The event was hosted by Allan Dollar of the Euchi-Ryu school and took place at the Deer Valley Campus. Seminars included training in weapons, kata, kumite and WKF rules.

Other competitors came from across the United States, Canada, Argentina, Germany and Japan.
