Juniors battle it out in mile races
There was virtually nothing to seperate Paul Smith and Justin Ferreira in the KPMG mile race held at the Botanical Gardens.
The two athletes stayed together as they battled to be the fastest on a testing course through the grounds last Sunday.
In the end Smith took the honours in the 8-10 year-old race, however, both he and runner-up Ferreira were given the same finishing time of six minutes 18 seconds.
More than 100 youngsters took part in the races, which were split into three age categories.
The fastest runner of the day was boys' 12-15 winner Ryan Furbert who ran 5.33 to win his race by 11 seconds.
Jazmine Outerbridge had the largest margin of victory, a comfortable 39 seconds clear of Rachel Fox in the girls' 11-12 race.
