Kim's putting woes resurface
no better than fifth place as the Great Lakes Buick Junior Tournament came to a close in Flint, Michigan.
Marshall shot a 10-over-par 82 to finish the three-day tournament on 241, 25 over par and 11 strokes behind wire-to-wire winner Lisa Penske of Pennsylvania. Heather Hoffman of Illinois was third on 231 while Jennifer Chuasiriporn of Maryland and Jennifer Gray of Indiana were joint third on 240.
"I hit the ball pretty good today but I couldn't putt,'' said Marshall. "I was hitting good shots to within five feet of the hole and then missing.'' Scores were higher throughout as the winds picked up with Bermuda stroke play champion not teeing off until early afternoon.
Marshall now travels to Pinehurst, North Carolina, for a week's practice where she will likely meet up with junior boys Quinton Sherlock, Robert Spurling and Michael Sims who recently played in the North/South tournament.
Then, it is on to the Rolex Tournament of Champions in Roswell, Georgia, from July 13-17 where Marshall acknowledges the competition could get tougher.
"I'm going to take this week to sharpen up my game, especially my putting,'' she said, "because it will get harder from here.'' KIM MARSHALL -- Had trouble with the udulating greens yesterday.
