Lady golfers take early lead
tournament in Florida yesterday.
The Island team topped the leaderboard by three points in the gross division and one in the net at the annual Kitty Michael International Invitational at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club.
Bermuda's Gilda Furbert shot 66, the best individual net score of the day, backed up by Valerie Nearon (69) and Ann Symonds (71).
Ocean Reef's Adelaide Skoglund fired the low gross score of 79, but Nearon's 81 was good enough for second place overall, tied with Bermuda's Pat Morgan.
Bermuda led the gross standings with a score of 247, ahead of second-placed Ocean Reef (250) and Southeast Florida (252) in third.
And in the net standings the Island grabbed the lead with 206, one point clear of hosts Southwest Florida and three clear of third-placed Ocean Reef.
