League with Wahoo adding four points to their total in their 4-0 win over Tuna

Doug Hines led Wahoo's efforts with the top series of 670 and second game of 234 while the distaff members of the team were doing their share to win the points. Sylvia O'Connor bowled the women's top series 535 and third high game 196 while teammate Lisa Saints was bowling the women's third high series 505 and top game of 202.

Tuna's Clifford Maxwell led Tuna with a 574 series and third game 233 to no avail.

Marlins' efforts were spearheaded by Joe Correia's bowling the second series 615 and top game 254. Oscar Andrade did not give up and bowled the men's third high series 575 and 214 game in a losing cause.

Sharks showed their teeth and polished them with a 4-0 win over Rockfish.

Lydia Mullin of Rockfish just missed the honours list with a 502 series while Cow Pollies and Barracuda split the points.

Barbara Smith led the Pollies effort with the women's second high series and game of 517 and 200 while Barracuda's John Maycock added a 542 series to his team's cause.

Hinds beat Porgies 3-1 while Dolphins were winning by the same margin over Mackerel. To complete the list Snappers took on Piranhas and went home with all four points.

With just two more weeks to go in the Mixed Classic League, Pro Staff are heading towards the title with Bermuda Glass 24 points back and seemingly destined to finish in second place.

Bermuda Glass took on Four Star Pizza and won 14-6 with Hilton Hayward leading the way with the second high series 632 and third game 245 as Kathy Christopher rolled the women's top honours in both series and game, 568 and 232.

For Four Star Pizza, Jim Godwin got back on track and produced the second men's game of 267 and 602 series while Marie Frith added the women's second high series 558 to their cause.

Pro Staff edged three more points ahead as Allan Thompson bowled a 567 series and Bobbie Ingham a 532 and third game of 214 while the Get Togethers were led by Prudence Spriggs with a 519.

Us Until won 16-4 over Perfect Combination while Flagler Street Gang beat East End Asphalt 13-7. Rosie Bean led Flagler with the women's third high series 550 and second game 221 while Carlos Estravit led East End with a 517.

Joe Correia led Amflites to a 17-3 win over Terrible Four with a 668 series while teammate Richard Zuill topped the games list with a 268 as the team went on to bowl the season's top series for the season. Zuill also claimed the third honours for his 628 series.

Dean Lightbourn had a 630 high series to lead Pembroke Juniors to a 22-5 victory over leaders Sparks in recent action in the Mott's Sportsmen's Bowling League.

However, despite the defeat Sparks still remain at the head of the tables.

Allan Thompson led the losers with a third high series of 596.

Jim Godwin had a second high game of 233 and fourth high series of 594 as Buy and Sell beat WW Reds 16-11. Godwin's teammate Kevin Minors also had a good night with a second high series of 620 and third high game of 224 while Leon Smith led WW Reds with a fourth high game of 219.

Lionel Dowling's high game of 243 was not good enough to prevent Social Club from beating WW Whites 18-9.

In the other game Young Blood beat Mini Forwarders 17-10.

Saturday's schedule: WW Reds v Pembroke Juniors, Buy and Sell v Sparks, WW Whites v Young Blood, Social Club v Mini Forwarders.

ROAD RUNNING RUN The last sporting activity hosted by the Canadian Forces will be held on Sunday when the popular Maple Leaf 10-K is held.

The Canadian base is due to close at the end of the year and with its departure, so too will the Island lose the quickest 10-K.

Deadline for entering is 4 p.m. today at a fee of $12 but late entries have until 8.30 a.m. on Sunday at a cost of $20.

Entry forms are available at most sporting outlets and may be returned to Sportseller or The Pro Shop.

The race, which is the ninth of the KPMG Peat Marwick Series, starts at 9.30 a.m. at the Longtail Barrack near Daniel's Head and the runners will proceed through Somerset to HMS Malabar and back. Walkers start at 9 a.m.

There will be prizes for runners in six categories and draw prizes, open to runners, walkers and volunteers, including a grand draw prize from Air Canada which is providing two tickets to anywhere it flies in Europe plus three nights' stay at Toronto's Chestnut Park Hotel.

CRICKET CRI The Bermuda Cricket Umpires Association have announced the umpires for the first two Derbyshire tour matches.

The game at Somerset on Sunday will feature George Francis and Wilbur Pitcher with Randy Butler as stand-by while on Tuesday at Devonshire Rec. the officials will be Alex Virgil and Mahdee Shabazz with Dennis Raynor stand-by.

TARGET SHOOTING SHO Eugene Robinson was Wednesday's top shooter at the Prospect Range with a score of 386 out of 400. Robinson nipped James Rego by three points. RUGBY RUG The second annual Skills Olympics will take place on Sunday at 12.30 p.m. at the National Sports Club. Boys, aged 16 and under, will be put through a series of tests based on Rugby Football Union Proficiency Awards scheme.

Participants will be tested a wide range of rugby skills, including passing, kicking, catching and tackling.

Registration will take place prior to the event. Anyone interested in participating should contact Richard Raistrick at 295-0152.

TENNIS TEN A marathon round-robin tournament will be held at the Tennis Stadium on Saturday and Sunday starting a 9 a.m.

The idea behind the event is to raise funds to assist Government in financing the upgrade of the current clay courts at the stadium.

Persons are required to pay $15 to enter the mixed doubles event. Partners will be drawn to ensure evenness and play fon both days will run until 6 p.m.

League play for this weekend has been subsequently postponed.

GOLF GLF Devonshire Recreation Club will hold a benefit tournament in aid of Egbert (Eggs) Christopher at Ocean View Golf Club on Saturday starting at 8.30 a.m.

The event will be a captain's choice with four-man teams.

MOTOCROSS SCR With three titles on the line, the Pepsi Motocross Nationals provided the perfect script to close the curtain on another exciting season on Sunday.

Despite a string of second-place finishes, Kemo Simons lost his 80cc crown to Chris Maxwell, who enjoyed a pair of first-place finishes on Sunday.

Devon Moss had the 125C title wrapped up prior to the last day of racing, but still came up with a solid performance over rivals Leroy Maxwell and Kyle Constable.

Donnie Moss and Kevin Walton squared off in the 250C competition with Moss holding on to first place.

Three victories by Aaron Pace enabled him to sew up the title in the 125B class. Justin Belboda, last year's champ, had a slim chance of knocking Pace off his lofty perch, but could not match the speeds of either Pace or Gary Simons.

Edison Jones pulled off a surprise victory to clinch the 250B title. Former champion Robert Smith allowed Jones to inch his way to the top, finding himself 12 points behind the front-runner going into Sunday's race.
