Lindsay double brings Wolves into contention
from Marlon Lindsay keyed a come-from-behind victory against Social Club.
Veteran Larry Darrell had put the Bluebirds ahead in the 22nd minute, but Lindsay equalised six minutes before the half and then put Wolves ahead for good in the 58th minute of play.
The 2-1 result enabled Wolves to move past Prospect into third place on 13 points, six behind leaders Southampton and five in back of second-placed Vasco.
Their victory was marred however by the sending-off of Dion Wainwright midway through the second half.
Another club making a jump in the standings were Devonshire Cougars, who defeated Somerset Eagles 4-2 in an entertaining affair at the Rec.
Cougars entered the day in seventh and are now fifth after they were spurred by a Devon Brangman hat-trick.
The diminutive forward was at his goal-scoring best, notching tallies in the third, 39th and 75th minutes while Donald Norford scored an insurance tally a minute from time.
This was not a one-sided affair however as Eagles twice levelled things. Dion Minors scored twice, once in the 24th minute to make it 1-1 and then in the 79th minute he tied it at two with his 10th goal of the season.
Eagles had spent themselves in seeking out this equaliser and Cougars capitalised with Brangman and Norford combining to plant the final nails in their opponents' coffin.
Meanwhile, Southampton swept aside a challenge from Prospect 2-0 on second-half strikes by Ascento Russell and substitute Ricky Nesbitt.
Vasco vented their frustration at losing the points from an earlier match against Prospect as they pummelled BAA 3-0 with goals coming of the boots of Derek Thomas, Ricky Mallory and Tony Cabral.
The day's other match involved a battle of the cellar dwellers with Port Royal being entertained by Paget.
But Royal proved rude guests as they blew out the home side 5-0.
Nakia Smith was the chief destroyer, slamming home three goals. He opened the scoring after 36 minutes before team-mate Mike Bean found the back of the net in the 39th and 41st minutes.
The second half followed a similar script as Smith completed his hat-trick on account of scores in the 49th and 85th minutes.
The Bermuda Football Association's semi-annual general meeting will be held at Warwick Workman's Club today starting at 7 p.m.
