Lisa lands third title
Mid Ocean Club yesterday, winning the 65th Championships with a convincing nine and eight victory over compatriot Helen Stovell in the 36-hole final.
Griffin, from Greenwich, Connecticut and a frequent visitor to the Island, also won the championships in 1992 and 1993 and was a semi-finalist last year.
This year's medallist, having fired a two-over par 73 in Monday's qualifying round, Griffin displayed similar form yesterday completely dominating her opponent in the morning round and wrapping up the title by the tenth hole in the afternoon.
She had got to the final after a tough match with Lee Ann Vogel which went to the 19th hole. Vogel had beaten Griffin at the same stage a year ago.
Stovell earned her final berth with a seven and five win over defending champion, Bermudian Pat Morgan.
In yesterday's first flight final Marjorie Deigert beat local player Valerie Nearon five and four.
