Zurich, a heavyweight champion, who is six feet tall and weighs in at close to 300 pounds, failed to retain his BPA Open title at Warwick Lanes -- but only by the narrowest of margins.
It was John May, from North Carolina, who usurped him this year with a 200-198 victory as the final went down to the last ball.
May picked up the first prize of $3,000, leaving Zurich having to be content with $1,500 for the runner-up.
Stoney Baker, from Atlanta, Georgia, came third in the tournament, taking back a welcome $1,200 to his home city.
