Championship concludes at Mid Ocean Club.

This was made possible as American Lee Ann Vogel upset last year's winner Lisa Griffin two-and-one yesterday during one semi-final.

Vogel and Griffin had been expected to meet in the final, however, a disappointing qualifying round by Vogel, where she was fourth, led to her being bracketed alongside Griffin.

Still, the underdog was able to rise to the occasion, usurping the champion under conditions made hazardous by constantly shifting winds and sporadic periods of cloud, sunshine and rain.

Triumphs over Bonnie Tyler and Louise Munro by Vogel and Griffin respectively had set up the match, which certainly lived up to expectations as one laced with intrigue.

Meanwhile, local Pat Morgan kept hopes alive for a Bermuda victory based on a similar two-and-one win against visitor Helen Stovell.

It followed a one-up win the previous round as Morgan continued to tred dangerously close to the edge of elimination, her saving grace being that Stovell could not deliver the final death knell.

Morgan and Vogel will hook up today in the 36-hole final, first teeing off at 8 a.m. an covering 18 holes before breaking for lunch and later (1 p.m.) resuming the match to its conclusion.

The Championship Consolation final will feature a pair of overseas competitors Bobby Tyler and Hannah Steel, after each were successful in ousting potential roadblocks yesterday.

Tyler bested Louise Munro three-and-two, while Steel ousted Susan Duffy two-and-one.

Among the First Flight, former champion Shirley Wildi downed Kile Keever two-and-one and Valerie Nearon defeated Cindy Semos one-up to create an interesting final match-up.

Finally, Gill Riihiluoma and Molly McNicols are set to perform in the First Flight Consolation final. Riihiluoma blasted Ismay Johnson five-and-four, while McNichols had the easiest passage following the earlier withdrawal Bunny Whiteley.
