Second Division round-up

Wolves conceded their first league goals of the season as Hamilton Parish also handed the Second Division leaders their first loss yesterday at Wellington Oval.

Goals early in each half proved to be crucial as Parish's determination enabled them to succeed where other teams have failed this season. Phillion Webb shot Parish into the lead in the second minute only to see Vincent Minors equalise for Wolves in the 24th. But Parish went back in front to stay just 15 seconds into the second half when Jermaine Outerbridge scored with a low shot into the bottom corner. Social Club 0 Dev. Cougars 3 Pre-season favourites Devonshire Cougars moved to within a point of division leading Wolves after this workman like victory over struggling Social Club.

Striker Jamal Salaam set the ball rolling with a 40th minute strike, with further insurance added as brother Wali Salaam and Phillip Clarke tallied in the 50th and 84th minutes respectively.

BAA 1 St. David's 1 Lionel Cann rescued a point for the visiting Islanders during this match at BAA Field, scoring an 89th minute equaliser. The visitors had trailed BAA from the 77th minute after Kirk Butterfield netted for the Greens. And their position was weakened by the ejection of Shea Pitcher by referee Cal Grimes for dissent.

Prospect 4 Paget 2 Prospect saved their heroics until late, but finally brushed aside the challenge put forward by Paget in this scrappy affair. Twice Paget led by a single goal, but twice they surrendered the advantage.

Devaughn Dill first put the visitors ahead in the 39th minute only to have John Richmond equalise three minutes later. Ivan Trott then converted in the 51st minute to give Paget a 2-1 lead, but Dwayne Leverock again tied matters in the 58th minute.

The `never-say-die' policemen finally persevered as Cal Smith netted in the 85th minute and Richmond added his second three minutes from time.
