Smith back to his best
previous week's five miler in Sandys, top road runner Kavin Smith bounced back with a convincing win in yesterday's Lindo's 10K.
Smith cruised home in 33 minutes and 40 seconds, more than a half minute ahead of John Wassenaar (34.19) who had won the MRM five mile race a week earlier.
Improving teenager Mark Morrison placed third in 35.40, ahead of Tracy Wright (36.05) and Vernon Tankard (36.51), the first Master.
Anna Eatherley's dominance of the women's races continued as she posted a fast time of 37.51 to place eighth overall in a field of 120.
Lynn Patchett clocked 40.10 to take second place with Georgia Belboda third in 41.33.
Jane Christie, the first female Master, was fourth overall in 41.41.
Next Sunday sees one of the highlights of the road racing season, the annual Evian (formerly Perrier) 10 miler which will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
As usual, the route will take competitors from the Botanical Gardens on South Shore Road out to Mid Ocean Club and back again, finishing at the Lagoon property opposite the Gardens.
