Smith's shot set up a birdie putt from four feet which his rival, David Boyce was unable to emulate.

Boyce, who shot an excellent final round of even par 70 to force the play-off, chipped to three feet from the fringe on the first hole. He then watched in anguish as his birdie putt to tie and move the game to the second extra hole just lipped the cup.

Jarryd Dillas finished in third place, two shots behind, after a strong run which ended with a double bogey on the 17th.

In the 13-to-14 year-old division Tristan Fraser-Smith shot a closing round 79 to run away with the honours by 24 shots over Jonathan James. Cameron Cooper took third over Charles Waters on retrogression.

Andrew Osborne closed out with an 85 to win the 11 to 12 year-old division by 15 shots over Kazuma Blitzman. Sam Outerbridge was third.

In the 10 and unders Cornell Bean shot a fine 39 to win the division by 20 shots from second placed Joshua Cabrera.

The girls division saw Stephanie Lewis record an 81 and that was enough to take the title from Krystle Philips -- the only other player in the field -- who finished with an 86. Lewis finished 22 shots ahead.
