North Village stunned Wolves with a dramatic three-goal burst inside five minutes yesterday.

The second-half blitz at Bernard Park turned an even contest on its head.

Red Devils' substitute striker Sean Dill delivered the first FA Cup hammer blow against Second Division Wolves.

He unleashed a ferocious 15-yard shot in the 76th minute after tearing down on Wolves from the right.

The ball slammed into the the left-hand corner of Hewvonnie Baker's net, leaving the Wolves goalie with no chance.

Baker, however, appeared to be partially at fault with the second hammer blow for Wolves.

Midfielder Rahji Edness floated in a high cross from the right after Village won a corner.

Damon Wade rose to an impressive height to head the ball home through Baker's hands.

Baker protested he had been fouled, but referee Rex Osborne allowed the 79th-minute goal to stand.

Just two minutes later Wade delivered the third hammer blow -- again capitalising after Wolves' defence cracked.

Wade headed over Baker from eight yards after the 'keeper came off his line to gather a ball.

Baker would have been entitled to ask why his defence had left him so exposed.

Those crazy five minutes apart, however, there was little to separate the two teams in this FA Cup first round tussle.

Wolves, standing third in the Second Division, had taken the game to their more illustrious opponents, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd.

Woeful shooting meant no name was entered on the score sheet after a fast and furious first half.

Wolves squandered a gift in the 35th minute when Village's national team 'keeper Dwayne Adams, back home from college, handled a back-pass.

Shannon Tuzo, from 10 yards, hoofed the free kick over the bar. It was typical of both teams' shooting.

Casey Burgess, Dion Wainwright, and Marlon Lindsay also spurned good opportunities for Wolves.

After the restart, Wolves continued their impressive display.

In the 55th minute, Khari Sharrieff headed a ball into Lindsay's path as Wolves broke down the right flank.

Again, however, the Wolves forward blasted the ball over the bar, prompting screams of frustration from his bench.

Village proved equally as wasteful, until Dill sparked the five minutes of mayhem, which shattered Wolves' morale.

"We weren't surprised by the way they came at us. We knew we had to aborb the pressure,'' said Village's coach Andrew Bascome afterwards.

"We had to make sure we kept our balance, and got the ball out of the back.'' Wolves' coach Jack Castle was philosophical. "It is part of the learning process,'' he said.
