Top seed Kyme on fast forward
Squash Racquets Association Fast Forward Freight Club Championships.
Kyme was rarely tested during his 9-0, 9-0, 9-0 victory over Barry Hanson.
Number four seed Chase Toogood also recorded a straight games win, over junior Andrew Robinson. Fifth seed Harry Mackenzie saw off Albert Steede in three, as did Tony Prentice over Marco Bortoli.
Rob Hopping, meanwhile, had only a racing pulse and three points to show for his brief encounter with third seed and defending champion Tommy Sherratt.
Only two ladies' matches were played with Kristen Law seeing off Lucy Chung in the Second Division and Geralyn Counsell losing in five games to Ann Mitchell.
In the Men's Second Division, Rob Brown got by veteran Roger Mello 3-0, as did Jeff Roach over David Law and Tony Riker over Kim Carter.
Darren Welch squeezed past Dermot Hudson in a closely fought Third Division match, while Gary Ince overcame Duncan Robson.
David Elliott beat Colin James 3-1 and Kip Horne beat relative newcomer Darren Anderson by the same score.
In all-junior matches in this division, Graham Counsell overcame Michael Jones and Iain Redford beat Michael Pimental.
Promising junior Robert Maycock played with his customary flair and maturity but was unable to make a dent in the armoury of senior Matt Lawson, going down 3-0.
Meanwhile, things were looking bleak for Paul Byrne, down 2-1 to Brian McCulloch and match ball down in the fourth. But he produced some of his best play to recover to 9-8 and take the game 10-8. He then ran out a comfortable victor 9-3 in the fifth.
