US Golf Association's Junior Championships at the Meridian Golf and Country

But the gifted local golfer nevertheless gave another spirited effort during the two match-play rounds on Wednesday by forcing her opponent in a afternoon round, Megan Maedo of Hilo Hawaii, into a sudden death play-off after the pair ended in a tie after 18 holes.

Maedo was sharp as ever during sudden-death, winning it with a 17-foot birdie putt.

Marshall had earlier in the day defeated Sandy Song of Cerritos, California, six and five after finishing one-under-par when she wrapped things up.

She did well to battle Maedo until the very end in the afternoon but was disappointed with her putting over the late holes.
