Vasco, Rangers play to stalemate
draw between Southampton Rangers and Vasco at Southampton Oval kept both on course for promotion.
With four games remaining Vasco kept their-one point lead over Rangers while Wolves missed a good chance to cut the four-point gap separating them from Rangers when they could only draw 2-2 with Port Royal in the opening match at White Hill field.
Wolves twice took the lead through top scorer Marlon Lindsay with his 15th and 16th goals of the season only to see Giovanni Wilson and then Nakia Smith equalise.
The highest-scoring match of the season occurred at White Hill field where Somerset Eagles hammered Paget 9-4 with player/coach Stevie Riley, Dion Minors and Everett Wellman all scoring twice.
Minors broke the deadlock in the third minute only for Jason Fox to reply in the fifth minute for Paget. Riley opened his account in the ninth minute before Mark Tucker made it 2-2 in the 13th minute.
Eagles took the lead for the third time in the first half in the 23rd minute through Riley before Minors grabbed his second to make it 4-2, but a minute later Paget stayed in the game with their third goal and the fourth three minutes before the half through Stevie Tucker.
Eagles ran riot after the restart with Wellman scoring in the 48th and 58th minutes, the second from the penalty spot.
Antoine Brangman, Steven Smith and Terrence Christopher (86 minutes) closed out the scoring for rampant Eagles.
Devonshire Cougars squandered a 2-0 lead in the second half on their way to a 3-2 loss at home to Prospect. Carlos Smith and Dwayne Bean scored for Cougars but Peter Philpott, Anthony Mouchette and Kirk Saunders turned it around for Prospect.
BAA upset Social Club 1-0 on a 59th-minute strike from Dennis Davis.
