Vasco, Rangers promoted
Wolves slumped to another defeat.
Leaders Vasco hammered Social Club 5-0 at St. John's field while Rangers had to come from behind to snatch a point off Somerset Eagles at White Hill field.
Vasco held a 1-0 lead at the half on Derek Thomas' goal, before Colin Lloyd and Anthony Bailey both scored twice after the restart to settle the issue.
Rangers did not find goals as easy to come by on the day they returned to the First Division with their 1-1 draw with Eagles.
Eagles took the lead in the 36th minute from an Everett Wellman penalty after Antoine Brangman was fouled from behind after dribbling into the area. Rangers equalised six minutes later through Ricky Nesbitt.
Wolves, with only the slimmest chances of promotion going into the weekend, lost their last hopes when Devonshire Cougars handed them a 3-1 defeat.
With two games remaining there is a five-point gap between Wolves and Rangers.
Vasco are a further point ahead.
Prospect followed up their Shield semifinal win over Social Club in midweek with a 3-1 win over Paget yesterday at Police field. All four goals came in the last 11 minutes with Dwayne Leverock, Lyndon Fubler and Cal Smith scoring for Prospect and Neil Ball replying for Paget.
BAA came from behind to beat Port Royal 2-1 in the other match as both their goals came in the last 10 minutes. Clinarke Dill had given Port Royal the lead in the 40th minute before Robert Pacheco equalised in the 80th minute from a direct free kick outside the penalty area.
Billy Tatem scored in his own goal two minutes from the end when he tried to clear the ball from a corner and only succeeded in slicing the ball past his goalkeeper.
