Village cup hopes dashed in shoot-out

Under-13 final of the Dutch Cup, played in Amsterdam on Saturday, as they went down on sudden death penalty kicks.

The teams were level at 1-1 after regulation time with the young Mexicans having taken the lead on the stroke of half-time before Village equalised in the second half through Jahkiel Samuels.

In the penalty shoot-out the teams were level at 3-3 after the Mexicans missed their second and third kicks and North Village missed their third and fourth.

Mexico eventually won 5-4 in sudden death.

"We went eight games undefeated which was pretty satisfying but the boys are disappointed at not winning, especially after coming so close,'' said coach Kenny Thompson.
