Western Stars' under-12 team wrapped up their tour of Barbados this week with a narrow five-run victory over local champions St.Joseph's.
Stars batted first in the 30-overs match, scoring 75 in 24 overs before restricting St.Joseph's to 70 in 29.4 overs.
Stars found the St.Joseph's attack lively, managing only two partnerships of any note, the first being the opening stand between Gavin Manders (6) and Jekon Edness (12) which produced 17.
Others contributing with the bat were Jacolby Robinson, who had a top score of 13, and Taurean Manders with 11. They shared in a stand of 18 for the seventh wicket. Dion Stovell also scored 11.
The match appeared to be getting away from Stars until the introduction of off-spinner Phillip Thomas who claimed four wickets for three runs to slow up the home team's push for victory. Fuqre Crockwell took two for 13, also off his allotted six overs.
St. Joseph's needed to score a mere 12 runs in the last four overs with two wickets in hand. But Robinson (2-10) and Jevonie Fubler (1-4) wrapped up the tail to hand Stars their fourth consecutive win.
