For the losers, Pat Persse and Max Gibbs both went two-for-three, with Persse also driving in a home run.

SNOOKER SNO Stephen Roberts will attempt to rewrite the history books this weekend as he is set to appear in both the Open Singles and Open Doubles finals.
If successful in both, Roberts would join a handful of players who have done so in the same season.
The 22-year-old advanced to the singles final with a 3-2 win over former champion Tyler Moniz and will face four-time winner and defending champion Steve Dunleavy on Saturday night at Spanish Point Boat Club.
Meanwhile, in the doubles, Roberts and his partner Mike Tatem defeated Nick Mansell and Kyle Thompson 2-0, earning the right to take on Brian Haxton and Phil Lambert tomorrow at the same venue (7.30 p.m.).
Roberts also appeared in both finals back in 1990 when he won the doubles along with Andy Peniston, but lost in the singles to Paul Charleton.
This year saw Roberts start slowly, losing his first four games. However, he rebounded to finish strongly at 11-5 and is currently in top form.
His opponent, Dunleavy, went 13-3 this season and is seeking his fifth Bermuda championship in the last seven years.
SAILING SLG The Etchells Class had a good showing on Saturday for the first race of the Triple Cup with 10 boats on the starting line.
The breeze was light and flukey, which suited Brett Wright who managed to win both starts of the day and went on to win both races.
Scott Simmons managed a third and a second but he had to battle with Tim Patton and Dennis Correia for the second-place honours. Patton finished the day third with Correia fourth.
Allan Williams had his first day on the race circuit and was looking strong in the first race until he went left on one of the windward beats and discovered that right was the way to go.
The ongoing strength within the class is apparent when first place is consistently taken by different boats. The first series of the year finished on April 3 with Patton taking the honours from Correia by a narrow margin of one quarter point.
Correia had in fact led the series from the beginning only to lose to Patton in the final two races of the series. A new series commences on April 17.
