A sterling bowling performance by Bermuda's Noel Gibbons helped Buckhurst win the Essex Colour Assembly Sunday League final on Sunday when they defeated

Chasing after a winning target of 169 Brookweald struggled throughout and were finally dismissed after 38.3 overs.

Earlier Buckhurst batted for 41.4 overs with Gibbons their second highest scorer with 33.

"It was a great experience to play on the well-known Test ground, our appearance helped to generate a lot of interest in the community of our club with six busloads of people travelling to see the game,'' said Gibbons.

"I was really pleased for the community after the club finished off the season like this, winning the final and finishing sixth in the league tables after placing 14th last season.'' Gibbons, who just last week was elected captain next season, is expected to return home later this week.

ROAD RUNNING RUN Runner Harry Patchett won both the masters and overall titles when the Pembroke Hamilton Club held a three-mile race on Saturday.

Patchett led home the small field of 33 with a time of 17.41, eight seconds ahead of second-placed Rory Gorman while junior division winner Calvert Lee was third overall in 18.41 and Andre Bassett fourth in 19.02.

Second behind Patchett in the masters category was Dennis Emery who was seventh overall in 19.36 while Wendell Furbert was the third masters finisher, completing the course 12th overall in 21.33.

Elaine Parker was the open female winner while clocking 21.00, five minutes ahead of second-placed Kim Moore. Parker was 10th overall while Moore was 25th.

Jennifer Young was the junior female winner with a time of 22.42, and Maria Duffy won the female masters title with her time of 23.53.

SOCCER SOC Wolves will hold training sessions today and tomorrow at Elliott School field for their junior and Commercial League teams.

Today the Pee Wees and Mini Minors will train at 4.30 while the Bantams will train at 5.30.

Any girls interested in playing for the Wolves Under-15 girls teams are asked to train tomorrow at 5.00 while the Wolves Pack Commercial team will hold a meeting tomorrow evening at 7.00.

All Devonshire Lions Commercial League players are asked to report for training tomorrow at Devonshire Rec. at 6.00 p.m.
