NETBALL NET North Village, bottom of the First Division and without an `earned' win in the league (they had points awarded for an opponent fielding an ineligible player) went all the way to the final of double elimination Milo Tournament last weekend before losing twice to AICO.
Village were inspired by college student Nicole DeGraffe who was outstanding in their defence, as they beat defending champions Netts 8-7 in the biggest upset of the day.
Netts had an opportunity to tie the game right on the final whistle when a penalty pass was awarded just as the whistle went for full time. The shot, by Kim Minors, was taken and missed as Village scored a thrilling win over the First Division powers.

In the Junior Milo double elimination tournament PCC beat Netts 4-2 in the final as they went through the five-team competition unbeaten. It was thought that Netts wtould be eliminated when Hamilton Parish Yellow beat them 7-3 but the result was overturned when it was learned that Parish had fielded a player who had played for their Red team.
Netts, who would have been out of the running, stayed in the competition to meet defending champions North Village in the semifinal and won 5-4. Village had lost previously to PCC.
