Ashworth's late strike saves BAA's blushes
Group A as an 87th minute equaliser from Duncan Ashworth saved the league leaders' blushes.
The goal was Ashworth's second of the match as Wanderers found opponents Fire Service more than a handful.
Service took the lead in the first half through a rocket free-kick from former Bermuda national squad player Wendell (Woodgate) Simmons before Ashworth levelled matters.
Alan Wilkinson restored the one goal advantage for Service in the second half to set up Ashworth's late heroics.
Second-placed Forties lost out on a chance to take over sole possession of the top spot when they were held 1-1 by Robin Hood, with Alan Munnery scoring for Forties and Alan Mooney tallying for Hood. Both Forties and Wanderers have 10 points from four matches, but Wanderers lead on goal average.
Closing the gap were Island Rangers, who defeated Spinning Wheel 3-0 at Malabar behind goals from Troy Berkeley, Wendell Anderson and Blaine Outerbridge, so increasing their tally to seven points.
Also on seven points are KPMG following a hard fought contest involving Lobster Pot that ended 3-1 in favour of the former.
Pot led from early in the second half as Gladstone Grant scored, but they rapidly fell apart under a late onslaught by the home team as Don Smith netted two goals and Philip Thorne one.
Two goals from Jeff Richardson were enough for Devonshire All-Stars to bury pointless Exiles 2-1 at Frog Lane.
There are new leaders in Group B after North Village Rams took advantage of a slip by former leaders Mariners.
In fact, Rams took over the top position without kicking a ball as they won by default over Wolves Pack while Mariners were being held 1-1 at St. George's All-Stars.
James Pace scored for St. George's while Jose Barbosa notched one for the visitors.
Prison Officers stayed as they were following a thrilling battle with Somerset Extros that ended 4-4.
Dennis Brown scored a hat-trick for Officers and was aided by a single strike from Reginald Pitcher, while Extros replied through Dwaine Richardson (two), Josef Gooden and George Brangman.
Another enthralling battle witnessed nine-men Valley nearly extinguish Devonshire Lions before being forced to settle for a share of the spoils in a 4-4 draw.
Timothy Telford was the chief marksman for Valley, scorching a hat-trick while Andre Scott scored the other goal.
For Devonshire Lions Robert Holdipp scored twice and R.Furbert once, but it took an own goal in the dying stages, with Valley leading 4-3, for them to earn a point.
The remaining match witnessed a shorthanded Belco unit earn a 1-1 draw with Bermuda Pest Control.
Anthony Raynor scored for Belco.
