BAA keep promotion hopes alive

Two second half goals proved enough to send BAA to victory against Hamilton Parish yesterday and keep alive their promotion hopes.

The result means that BAA are now the new leaders of the division -- taking a one-point lead over idle Devonshire Cougars who themselves led by a single point going into the day.

A header in the 57th minute by Stephen Gair and a spectacular volley by Duncan Ashworth settled the affair in favour of the Green Knights, who remain in second place among the Daihatsu Second Division.

Prospect 1, Social Club 0 Prospect maintained their grip on fourth place in the tables with a slim home victory over Social Club, thanks to a goal by Peter Philpott in the first half.

The teams entered the day tied on 10 points.

Paget 2, Prospect 2 Port Royal came from behind twice to earn a share of the points in this match-up at Southampton Oval.

It was a tough day for Port Royal, who went behind to an Ivan Trott goal and then missed a penalty -- all in the first five minutes. They hit back to grab the equaliser at the end through player-coach Leroy Wilson. Mike Bean netted their first goal.

The other game, which was scheduled for White Hill, saw third-place Wolves win by default over Somerset Eagles who were able to field just seven players.
