Bermuda Ocean Race hosted by the Eastport Yacht Club of Annapolis in

Moxie skippered by George Collins of Maryland and competing in Division One captured line honours Thursday, crossing the line at 2.17 a.m. She was followed by a boat of similar name -- but competing in the multihull category -- a little more than 13 hours later.

In fact to date all of the multihulled entrants have finished, with Triple Shock and Damiana the others already in. Chesapeake and Dove , both from Division One round out the list.

Alex McAteer, who sailed aboard Chesapeake reported that the fleet experienced some very light air as they left Chesapeake Bay in Maryland and this trend continued until Tuesday when winds rose to 25 knots enabling them to really get going.

Of the 50 boats that started the race, seven were forced to turn back.

Forty-one remain on course for Bermuda and are expected to arrive over the next few days.

SOFTBALL SOF The lights went out on Warwick and Hornets' parade on Wednesday night as a power outage forced the postponment of their match.

The teams could only get in two innings before the stoppage in play and were tied 2-2 when the failure of modern technology called for an early end to the proceedings.

Meanwhile, Sharks (formerly Canadians) must have wished for some divine intervention themselves in their match against Social Club Blue Sox as the latter showed little mercy for their unfortunate opponents, blasting them 20-8.

They scored their runs from just 15 hits as they had a field day with Sharks' pitching. Hedley Furbert and James Pace both went two-for-two for the victors in leading the run chase.

Sharks were never in the game with Sox coasting along 13-0 after four innings.

Sharks did manage to push the match to seven innings with a brief comeback where they got five runs in the fifth. But this extension turned out to be more torture for the losers with Sox continuing with the battering.

In a slowpitch match-up in the `A' Division, Harrington/Partners used a four-run explosion in the third to rally and beat G/C Inc. 10-3.

Manny Lopez waved the biggest wand, blasting a home run, a triple and batting in three runs. He was aided by the bat of Simon Onabowale who also also sent one out and had two RBI.

David DeSilva took the win while Dave Lechner was saddled with the loss.
