Collins, who was the defending champion, came third on Brincador, as an unlucky rail in the show jumping prevented a repeat win. He was closely followed in fourth place by the much-improved Flood on her horse Swizzle Inn.

Flood had an excellent dressage score of 46, followed by five faults in the show jumping and a clear cross country with time penalties to finish on 63.4.

Collins also rode Bermuda Twist to an 11th place finish in a field made up of participants from 12 countries.

In the young horse class, Collins placed fifth on Mallory with a good dressage, followed by clear show jumping and one of the fastest cross country times of the day which moved him up 20 places.

Collins also competed at the Open Intermediate Championships at Spring Hill, England where he placed first, third and sixth.

Brincador, Bermuda Twist and Swizzle Inn now head for the CCI Three Star in Boekelo, Holland with Mallory competing in the CCI Two Star at Lion D'Angers, both taking place next month.
