BFA bolster Under-23 squad

continue their preparation for the Pan-American qualifying matches against Canada in Jamaica later this month and early next month.

Some of those named yesterday were already members of the squad which prepared for the recent tour to Germany, but didn't make the trip. Others have been added, increasing the number to 28.

Among those who didn't travel to Germany but are included in the training squad are St. George's full-back Dean Bailey, Somerset's John Best, Jermaine Burrows, Steven Burrows, Lamaul Crofton and Sean Riley, and goalkeeper Tim Figuerido of Vasco. Southampton Rangers striker Herbie Dillas and Boulevard defender Donnie Charles have also been named.

In total there are now eight Somerset players in the training squad, including Andrew Rahman who captained the team in Germany, where the squad recorded three wins and two draws.

PHC have six players and Devonshire Colts four.

The squad will resume training this evening at BAA Field at 6.30 and on Friday at Devonshire Rec., also at 6.30. As of next Monday training will take place at the National Stadium three times a week and players are requested to wear all white to the sessions.

The Under-23s are expected to play the first leg of their Pan-Am tie against Canada in Montego Bay on November 30 with the second leg following three days later.

Should they win that match they would then face another two-leg tie against a Caribbean team (yet to be decided) in their attempt to advance to the Pan-Am Games finals which will be held in Argentina next March.
