BFA give cup format new look

Two-time defending champions, Vasco, begin the tournament when they meet St.George's in the opening night of a double-header next Tuesday at BAA Field.
North Village play PHC in the 9.00 nightcap.
Also in Group A with Vasco and St.George's are Boulevard while Dandy Town, Village and PHC make up Group B.
The competition is also breaking away from exclusive Tuesday night slots for the group and semi-final matches, with Friday, September 20, the date for games at Devonshire Rec. when Dandy Town play PHC at 7.00 and Vasco take on Boulevard at 9.00.
On Tuesday, September 24, the semi-finalists will be determined when the final group matches see St.George's play Boulevard at PHC Stadium at 7.00, followed by Village against Dandy Town.
The semi-finals will be held on Saturday, October 19 at Somerset and Thursday, October 24 at Devonshire Rec., both starting at 9 p.m. The final is on November 11 as usual.
The first match of the season will be this Saturday's Charity Cup at BAA Field (8.00) between last season's league champions Vasco and FA Cup champions Boulevard.
Meanwhile, the dates for the Commercial Division's League Cup, which is played on a similiar format to the Martonmere Cup, have also been confirmed.
Division A, which involves BAA, Forties and Spinning Wheel in Group A and Island Rangers, Robin Hood and Lobster Pot in Group B will play group and semi-final matches at White Hill and BAA fields on September 14, 21, 28 and October 5, with the final taking place at PHC Stadium on October 10.
The B Division is made up of Mariners, Prison Officers and Bermuda Pest Control in Group A and St. George's All-Stars, North Village Rams and Somerset Extros in Group B. They also play on September 14, 21, 28 and October 5 at Bernard Park and Wellington Oval, with the final at Devonshire Rec. on October 24.
