BJGA Match Play Championships today at Riddell's Bay following semifinal wins
Carruthers beat Justin Barritt three-and-two while Spurling stopped Kent Smith by the same score.
In yesterday's first flight semifinal Richard Fulton beat Geoffrey Hindess five-and-four while Hywel Brown beat Michael Fahy two-and-one. Their final will be played over 18 holes.
Grant Smith got by Adrian Beasley five-and-three to earn the right to meet Ian Smith in today's second flight final. Smith had a bye yesterday. Today's other final sees Chris Smith playing Sarah Lindo from the red tees. Smith edged by Ben Beasley one-up yesterday.
The first of the finals begins this morning at 8.30.
BOWLING BOW Buy & Sell ended the year in first place in the Mott's Sportsmen's League after last weekend's 24-3 win over bottom team Young Blood, while former leaders Pembroke Juniors were being hammered 201 -61 by Social Club to drop to second.
Kevin Minors led Buy & Sell with the third high game of 222.
Social Club claimed the top series and game of 2,718 and 945 while Pembroke Juniors had the second high series of 2,634 and third high game of 915.
William (Yummy) Easton led the winners with a 594 series while Juniors' Dean Lightbourne topped the series list with a 636. He also tied for first with team-mate Antoine Jones for the top game of 245. Jones had the second high series of 624.
Third-placed Sparks also won convincingly when they hammered Warwick Whites 221 -41 after claiming the third high team series of 2,621. Hank Rawlins led Sparks with his 615 third high series and 215 game.
In the other match Mini Forwarders beat Warwick Reds 15-12 after their second high game of 938.
