Carr and McRonald in top spot
for a fourth straight Bermuda Four Ball Championship title.
In yesterday's second round at Port Royal the pair's one-over-par 72 wasn't enough to protect their overnight one-stroke lead as the surging Tim Carr and Joey McRonald knocked them out of first place.
Carr and McRonald fired the tournament's lowest score so far -- 67 -- and now lead second-placed Pitt and Ascento by four strokes, 139 to 143. Suddenly they are the team to beat as the defending champions will be forced to play catch up this weekend.
In third place are Max Atherden and Ian Page on 145 while another local pair, Zane DeSilva and Douglas Morris, climbed to fourth place on 146 following a steady round of 72.
In the net division, Carr and McRonald share the lead with Allan Richardson and Quinton Sherlock on 133 while John Moore and Graham Pearson are a stroke back on 134.
Visitors Dot Spiro and Elizabeth White are leading the women's division after the first 18 of 54 holes yesterday. Spiro and White shot an 82 to lead Cherie Page and Carol Owens and Allon Pierce and Gertie Cutler by two strokes. In the net division, Ann Mailer and Gilda Furbert share the lead with another local pair, Jean Atherden and Sylvia Tavares, on 71.
