Carr, Dupuy through to match play final
Championships on Thursday, newly installed favourite Robert Vallis also found himself directed to the exit door yesterday.
The Bermudian engaged in a gripping quarter-final with American Doug Ballenger at lush Mid Ocean, but found himself at the short end once all the divots stopped flying.
Ballenger finally was able to celebrate victory at the final hole, leaving former champion Vallis to commiserate an opportunity lost.
However, Ballenger's good fortune would be short-lived as he found himself dumped later on by Bermuda's Mark Dupuy in one of two afternoon semi-finals.
In yet another nail bitter Dupuy this time emerged in the favoured position, winning at the 19th hole.
Similarly Tim Carr earned a second consecutive trip to the final as he outlasted John Liddel to win at the 19th.
Carr and Dupuy will thus square off in today's 36-hole final, starting at 8.20 a.m. and resuming after lunch at 1.00 p.m.
Earlier Dupuy, Liddel and Carr all moved into the semis, with Dupuy able to get past Robert DeWitt four and three, Liddel defeated Arthur Jones two and one, while Carr cruised past Bill Cosgrove five and four.
Meanwhile, the Championship Consolation final will feature Jack Wahl and Austin Eaton, Wahl having betterd Vance Campbell three and two in the quarter-finals, before disposing of Declan O'Loughlin four and three, while Eaton downed Gary Carr and Andrew Trott one up and four and three respectively.
The First flight will see the semi-finals played, with Tony Zeis up against Jim Cocca, while P.Devine faces Andrew Bissell.
TIM CARR -- Through to a second straight final after two wins yesterday.
