More than 70 teams of four have already entered the 13-plus mile race that starts and finishes at the National Stadium.

Six prizes exist in the categories of fastest overall team, local company, public service, exempt company, hotel and secondary school students.

A year ago saw The Educators -- George Sutherland, Gary Kelson, Jeremy Ball and Harry Patchet -- have their two-year reign as champions snapped by Pink Panthers.

Panthers -- Leon Matthews, Eddie Benjamin, Kent Dill and Tracy Wright -- clocked one hour, 18 minutes and 57 seconds over the distance.

Certain this year are a new set of records, as the venue shifts from National Sports Club to the Stadium.

Also a sure bet are new champions as, unfortunately, the Panthers are not returning for a second go-round, with sources indicating their absence as something of a protest for what they perceived as a snub by the media following their triumph.

Their absence creates an open battle, with several teams appearing in with a chance at glory.

Educators II have Ball and Kelson teaming with new partners Tyler Hall and David Dewhurst, while top distance runner Kavin Smith has aligned himself with co-workers from the Bermuda Biological Station, including Peter Countway, Rodney Johnson and Mike Rickards.

Meanwhile, Sutherland and Patchett too have formed a new alliance, welcoming aboard Alister Smith and Dave Vine.

On the women's side one squad stands out, that being Les Girls, representing the hospital and featuring Maria Conroy-Haden, Midge Oliver, Sandra Allen and Sue Drake.

Racing gets underway at 9 a.m.
