Charity begins at home^.^.^.
The soccer star, who runs his own business, the Bascome Pro Soccer School, when he is not playing for Harrisburg Heat in the NPSL, is to help raise funds for Bermuda's Sunshine League -- a children's home in Hamilton.
Bascome made the announcement at an autograph signing session at City Hall last night.
Through his website, www.bascomesoccer.com, the player offers features, sports gear and a variety of teaching tools for coaches, players and parents.
An action video is also being developed to assist in the setting up of programmes at club level and is being made available through a CD Rom.
Part of the proceeds from the sale of the discs will go towards the Sunshine League. Bascome said he was honoured to be able to help out in this way.
"It's very important. I spent some time in the Sunshine League and the biggest thing for me is to come back and help others,'' he said.
"If there's one kid that I can help out, great. I have come from areas where I didn't have much. Sometimes when you get successful at something it is a joy to put something positive back into it. It's a pleasure and something I've always wanted to do.'' Bascome is currently planning a second CD Rom and this one will be filmed on the Island. Interested children were being recruited to help out last night.
