Colts homeless again

field, just one year after switching to BAA Field.

Colts' one year contract with BAA has expired and the Woodlands Road club informed the champions about a month ago that they would not be able to use their ground this season.

New BAA president Richard Burns confirmed yesterday that his club were in negotiations with Bermuda Football Association to have the ground used for national squad training.

"We are in negotiation with the BFA so I will reserve comment on that,'' said Burns yesterday. "Any information on that will probably come from Mr (David) Sabir himself.'' Sabir, general secretary of the BFA, is presently off the Island.

Burns said Colts never renewed their contract or applied to have it renewed until talks began with the BFA.

Colts secretary Stanford Bean declined comment when asked about the situation.

Last August the clubs agreed on a one year contract which allowed Colts use of the ground for their home matches, as well as twice a week for training.

Colts capped their first season at BAA Field by winning the league championship for the first time since the 1970s.

In the last couple of years, after notice was given to them to vacate Frog Lane Field (Government reclaimed the land for use as part of the National Sports Complex) Colts considered a number of possible venues.

The Department of Youth Development, Sport and Recreation offered them Government-owned Garrison Field, before they eventually settled on BAA Field.

Colts have made it no secret that they would prefer to remain centrally located. They have twice played in the east, using both St. George's and St.

David's.

One of the locations they are understood to be interested in is Bernard Park, the present home of North Village who have received a letter from Colts regarding ground-sharing.
