Commercial League softball returned this week with matches played on Tuesday and Thursday evening and lopsided results the norm.

The closest and most competitive game occurred on Thursday and saw Butterfield and Steinhoff edge AIM Wahoos 5-4 as Renata Milzcerek singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. This after Butterfield and Steinhoff had come from two behind to tie AIM with a pair of unearned runs.

In a not-so-close affair, Chips Limited found the pitching of Elbow Beach's Paul Williams much to their liking, slamming 22 runs off the luckless hurler, with the final score 22-7 in favour of the computer company.

Scott Suddaby led the `hit parade', going four-for-five with three RBI.

He was aided in the run department by Don Lecourse with four RBI from three hits and Blain Bernard's five RBI, including a home run, from a similar number of hits.

The night's final encounter was a short-lived affair as Centre Re blasted Powerscourt 23-7, with the match called after six innings.

George Hutchings enjoyed a perfect night going five-for-five as did David Kaplon and the pair also combined for four RBI on the night. For added measure, Chris Spurling belted a grand slam home run in the fifth to seal the deal for Centre Re.

In opening night fixtures Gateway Heard defeated Snowballs 10-3, Palms blasted Team Xerox 30-2 and Wildcats downed Warwick Renegades 19-6.
