Police Orioles snatched a 1-0 victory over Cardinals in an entertaining game with Orioles starting only nine players. But they quickly established a good passing game to take the upper hand.

Claudette Baisden manipulated a hesitant Cardinals' defence to score the match-winning goal.

Cardinals roared to life in the second half, but were unable to get the ball past Orioles' goalkeeper Gertie Barker.

Meantime, Lisa Young was typically dangerous on the break and only the steady goalkeeping of Vicki Johnston prevented Cardinals from getting deeper in the hole.

In another game, Swifts found a very strong Canaries team too hot to handle and went down 7-0 as Lisa Haynes reaffirmed her position as the league's leading scorer with a second half hat-trick.

Despite their youth, Swifts showed good organisation and defended resolutely to keep the score at half-time 2-0. Constant pressure by Canaries began to pay dividends as they ran in five goals during an 18 minute period.

But Swifts never gave up and even created a couple of their own chances during the latter stages of the game.
