Darts action on Monday night saw some exciting action as Sandys I played host to Vasco I and squeaked by with a 4-3 win.
Michael Simons of Sandys took on Steven Hayward in a singles match and shot two 171s in the singles which turned out to be in a losing effort as he lost 2-1.
In other results from the game Ray Henderson lost to Joe Botelho 2-0, while Ronnie Thorne, who is fourth in the high aggregate, beat Derwin Smith 2-1 and Stuart Matthews beat Bill Lines. The teams split the doubles and Sandys won the trebles and 1001.
First-placed team in the First Division, Nationals, increased their lead as they downed Mariners I 5-2. Aggregate leader Charles Roberts beat G.Corcoran 2-1, John Holder beat Gerry Lyons 2-0, Robert Davis lost to Kevin Brown 1-2 and Bill Booth had his hands full as he lost to Steve Gair 2-1. Gair shot 10 tons.
Booth and Roberts paired up in the doubles as they upset Gair and Corcoran as the latter, with a 60 points left, could not check out and Booth and Roberts came from 300 plus points to win. The second doubles saw Davis and Holder beat Brown and Lyons. Nationals also won the trebles and 1001.
Vasco II were hosts to Nationals II and lost 3-4. Vasco have yet to win a game this season. The games were as follows: Joe Domingos lost to Boyd Lewis 2-0, Charles Madeiros beat Danny Ray 2-0, Jose Pacheco lost to Steve Croucher 2-1 and Tony Correia beat William Pickering 2-1.
The teams split the doubles while Nationals won the trebles and 1001. William Pickering shot a perfect 180 in a losing effort.
RAA beat BAA I 5-2 at home as Gregory Nisbett beat Reggie Pitcher 2-1. Terry Cartwright lost to Jimmy Pratt 2-1, Gregory McQueen beat Frank Brewster 2-0 and Vernon Daniels beat Jean Clark 2-1. The teams split the doubles while RAA won the trebles and 1001.
In the Second Division, Oasis clean out Pomander Gate 6-1 to climb even closer to the top. Three teams, Esso I, Vasco III and PRC, are all tied on 42 points.
Moonglow I went down 3-4 at home to BAA II as Morris Outerbridge lost to Elizabeth Simons 2-0, Alcides Van Beeling beat Brenda Hutton 2-1, Dawn Bealing beat Karen Hutton 2-0 and Ronnie Furbert beat Lee Harrison 2-1. BAA won both doubles, the trebles and 1001.
In the Third Division St. George's D&SC lost to White Horse 6-1 as Norman Bleeker lost to Peppy Hansey, Marilyn Lewis went down to Ashton Smith 2-0, June Bleeker lost to William frost 2-1 and Donnie McLaughlin lost to Joan Serre 2-0. White Horse won both doubles and 1001 and St. George's won the trebles.
BPSA beat Vasco IV 4-3 in the Fourth Division in a see-saw battle. Debbie Nisbett lost to Ray Martin Sr 2-0, Derek Dillas beat Frank Lema 2-0, Betty Christopher beat Ray Martin 2-0 and Renalda Bean lost to Mark Lewis 2-0. The teams split the doubles and to clinch the win BPSA won the trebles. BPSA won the 1001 as well.
Another see-saw battle saw Queens Club lose to top of the tables Squash Club 4-3. Paul Hodgson beat Michael Sampson 2-1, Paul Lindo beat Jim Robb 2-0, Alan Hill lost to A.Armstrong 2-1 and Betty Saggar lost to Richard Adlam 2-1. The teams split the doubles while Squash Club won the trebles and 1001.
SNOOKER SNO This week's First Division Player of the Week, Brian Walker, made a break of 27 to inspire Nationals to a 4-1 victory over Sandys Boat Club and maintain their grip on first place in the Snooker League.
`Sticks' Henderson, Greg Falzone, Tony DeSilva, Lawrence DeSilva and Frank DeSilva teamed up to spearhead Sandys Sports Club I to a 5-0 triumph over Spanish Point.
Dave McLean and Brian Haxton both made breaks of 20 as Old Colony Club I beat their second team 4-1.
Queens I squeaked by St. George's 3-2 as did Queen's II did against Police.
Alan Simons made a 23 break to lead Sandys Sports Club I to a 4-1 win over OCC III.
In the preliminary round of the Four Star Pizza Single's Open, Brian Walker, Hilgrove Iris, Bill Wotton and Stick Henderson all advanced on scores of 2-0 while Eddie Roberts nipped Henry Kaye 2-1.
The Four Star Pizza Doubles Open will take place on February 10 with most of the game starting at 8p.m.

BRIDGE BDG This year's Bermuda Regional Tournament finished last weekend at the Southampton Princess with the finals of the knockout teams and both sessions of the Swiss teams.
As anticipated the finals of the knockout teams featured the all-Massachusetts Mukherjee team against the Barrett team which included Bermuda's Margie Way and Jean Bath.
The final was closely fought with victory going to Mukherjee on the last two deals of the game.
In the Swiss team's event which was split into Flights A, B and C, locals enjoyed considerable success. Flight C was won by the local team of Molly Taussig, Ken Brown, Delmont and Marilynn Simmons.
The second place team also contained locals Theresa Howard and Margaret Vaucrosson.
In Flight B again locals tasted success with the team of Jack Rhind, David Cordon, Debbie Roberts and John Burville coming from behind to win the event although the outcome was not certain until the completion of play.
Flight A was won by the same Mukherjee team that won the knockouts on Friday.
In second place was the Francis team containing local David Ezekiel and long-time Bermuda resident Jean Johnson.
Other events decided on Friday were the Individual, Mixed Pairs and Unmixed Pairs, all the victories going to visitors.
SOFTBALL SOF Snowballs scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 6-6 tie and beat BNTB Flyers 13-6 in Commercial Softball League play on Wednesday night.
Their fightback was ignited by a grand slam by shortstop Sylvain Fontain who had previously initiated a triple play. Mario Valcourt was the winning pitcher while Rick Johansen took the loss.
Fontaine went two-for-two with two homers and seven runs batted in while Kenrick Bagnall had a two-for-three night for the losers, including a homer and three runs batted in.
St. David's edged Gateway 9-8 with Bruce Foggo driving in two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Gary Carr responded with a two-run homer for Gateway but they fell short. In the other game PALMS blasted AICO 20-0 behind Clarkie Trott and John Simons who each went three-for-four, Trott slamming two homers and driving home seven runs while Simons hit a homer, double and had three runs batted in. SOCCER SOC Tomorrow's Junior Division match between PHC and North Village has been moved from Bernard Park to St. David's, starting at 1 p.m.
Today's Mini Minor B Division matches at Gym field between BAA Youth and North Village Kids (10.00) and Southampton and Dandy Town (11.15) will be at West Pembroke.
