Deloitte & Touche and Marsh & McLennan each moved within a game of clinching their respective Commercial Division titles following victories on Tuesday

Deloitte & Touche, unbeaten in the play-offs thus far, extended their run in the D Division to four matches as they blasted Cooper & Lines 19-10 behind Robin Sarkar's four-for-four night and Chris Bell's three RBI.

Taking the win was Marty Brandt, while Bob Morrison was saddled with the loss, this despite a perfect four-for-four night by Cooper & Lines' slugger Andrew Beek.

Deloitte & Touche now hold a commanding 2-0 advantage in the best-of-five series.

Meanwhile, C Division's Marsh & McLennan needed to pull out all the stops in their match against regular season champs Butterfield & Steinhoff in seizing a 16-15 win.

Leading the charge was Steve Outerbridge, going three-for-four, with a home run and four RBI. He was assisted by Ron Sulisz, who similarly enjoyed a three hit performance, adding three RBI for good measure.

Nisala Weerasooriya was the winning pitcher, while Graham Strange suffered the loss.

The night's final contest saw PTB hand Warwick a 15-12 defeat to level the B Division series at 1-1.

Shawn Tucker got the win as John Ray went four-for-four and Brian Adderley contributed five RBI. Keith DeCosta took the loss.

ROAD RUNNING RUN This month's Stanley Burgess Memorial road race, organised by Friswell's Hill United in conjunction with Swan's Running Club, has been scheduled for Sunday, April 16.

The date was originally changed to avoid any clash with Easter Sunday activities.

Meantime, this Sunday's popular Maple Leaf 10K has now been rescheduled by the BTFA for a date in May, still to be announced.

The Burgess race will start and finish at Devonshire Recreation Club, beginning at 9 a.m. and taking the runners along Frog Lane and Montpelier Road to Middle Road and then in an easterly direction to Flatts. The course then brings the runners back on North Shore through Blackwatch Pass, left onto Palmetto Road and Marsh Folly Road and back to the Devonshire field.

Distance is between between seven-and-a-half and eight miles.

Deadline for entries is Thursday, April 13 with entry forms available in various sports shops.

SOCCER SOC Dandy Town and Boulevard's players of the past will lace up their boots again this Saturday for a match at St. John's Field (3.00 p.m.). The two teams will consist of players who turned out for the clubs during the 1970s.
