schools knockout soccer finals played on Friday night.

Dellwood clinched the over-13 title at BAA Field when they nipped Spice Valley 2-1, having earlier won the under-13 middle schools crown over Clearwater, 3-2 on penalties at the same venue, after the teams had ended regulation deadlocked at 0-0.

In the over-13 final, Noel Barnett gave Dellwood a flying start when he netted from an Angelo Simons pass after just 10 minutes.

But Spice Valley levelled in the second half through Damir Phillips following a Jesse Almeida free kick which crashed off the crossbar.

Almeida, impressive throughout the match, then almost gave his side the lead as Dion Ball did well to save at his feet.

But just when it seemed as though penalties would be needed to decide the contest, Dellwood's Simons raced through the Spice Valley defence to slip the ball low into the left hand corner of the net for the winner.

Dellwood earlier retained the under-13 title on penalties after 70 scoreless minutes, although there was no lack of entertainment.

Dellwood could have taken the lead early when Temiko Wilson beat the offside trap and squared for Dashae Simons who was denied by Clearwater's advancing keeper Terai Wilson.

Ajani Gibbons also forced Wilson to make a fine save while Clearwater's Rodney Trott almost put his side ahead with a curling strike from 25 yards which was superbly saved by Allon Jackson.

Clearwater poured on the pressure in the last 10 minutes but to no avail and it was left to spot kicks to determine the winners.

Clearwater's Colin Richardson put his shot over the bar before Randy Broadbelt of Dellwood and Taijuan Talbot of Dellwood both also missed.

Temiko Wilson then gave Dellwood the lead and the two teams exchanged goals through Jade Foggo and Orande Bascome (Clearwater) and Allon Jackson and Sacha Barry (Dellwood).

But Jackson saved Clearwater's final penalty from Rodney Bascome to ensure the cup stayed at Dellwood.

In the same night's primary schools final at Somerset, West Pembroke defeated Warwick Academy 4-1, all of West Pembroke's goals coming in the second half.

Charlie Watson shot Warwick into a first half lead after some fine work by Cornell Bean who dribbled around three defenders.

But it was a different story after the break as Kamori Brangman netted a fine individual goal for the equaliser before Jorde Smith fired West Pembroke in front. Giniko Butterfield then made it 3-1 from a goalmouth scramble and Smith put the game out of Warwick's reach with his second goal of the match.
