Double(s) disappointment

twice during play in the Coral Beach Tennis Tournament this week, learned what it felt like when they were beaten in both of their matches yesterday.

First, in the men's doubles open semi-finals, they lost to top seeds Ricky Mallory and Mark Cordeiro 6-1 6-3 before going down to Earl Leader and Patrick O'Kelly in a hard fought battle for the men's 45 doubles crown 6-4 3-6 6-1.

Leader and O'Kelly reached the final by coming from behind to oust Dick Mount and Martin Zolnai 3-6 6-2 5-3 (retired). Between his two doubles matches, Leader captured the men's 45 singles title with a surprisingly straightforward 6-1 6-3 win over Wilf Gonsalves.

Gill Butterfield continued her mastery over Julie Lunn when she captured the ladies' 40 singles crown 6-3 6-0.

SQUASH TEAMS' CASH INCENTIVE SQU Squash teams' cash incentive A total of 36 children and their adult partners will vie for the chance to win a $500 investment for further education in the final round robin stage of the BIAS squash tournament this Sunday.

BIAS invests the money in a mutual fund for the tournament winner.

Sunday's matches at the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association, will determine which teams progress to the quarter-finals which are scheduled for January.
